Funding for Internships

Applying for scholarships, stipends and financial aid can make your internship abroad affordable and possible. Funding resources vary based on whether you select a credit-bearing or non-credit bearing program. Know what resources are available to you before you select your program. Plan early and talk often with your program coordinator to understand your program costs and to map out how you will finance your experience.

U.S. citizen or permanent resident, completing minimum 6-week internship in East or Southeast Asia

Gilman International Scholarship

Students receiving a Pell Grant, U.S. Citizen, completing minimum 4-week internship

UGS Summer Exploration Grant Students enrolled in School of Undergraduate Studies for the spring semester proposing exploration experiences from May to August.

BDP Connecting Experience Scholarship Students in the Bridging Disciplines Program, must be used during the Connecting Experience $200 - $2,500

Helen M. Powell Traveling Fellowship Journalism major intending to work as a journalist, junior or senior standing, current or past paid service at The Daily Texan, seeking summer travel support $4,900

Wofford Denius Music Industry Internship Program College of Communications students, upper-division standing or graduate students, enrolled in a credit-based summer internship course, no financial bars Up to $5,000
Dock Williamson Lott and Loise McDonald Lott Scholarship Undergraduate journalism major, summer journalism internship, demonstrated academic record and financial need  
Bob Brister Memorial Scholarship Undergraduate junior, seniors and graduate students pursuing a career in outdoor writing, 3.0 GPA, 10-week unpaid summer internship at an outdoor magazine or publication, completed a course in Environmental Journalism $6,000 +

Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship Undergraduate students, U.S. citizens or permanent residents, internship abroad of at least 4 weeks, receiving academic credit for internship $1,250 - $10,000
CREEES Professional Development Funding Undergraduate or graduate students, any major, for professional development related to the former Soviet sphere of influence, Central/Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe/former Ottoman Empire, Central Asia, the Caucasus, etc. Up to $1000 for international travel
