We work with departments and organizations across campus to provide opportunities for international exchange and research for the entire UT community. Below is a list of some of the many important entities with whom we collaborate on a number of initiatives.
Center for Global Business
The International Office partners with The University of Texas at Austin's Center for Global Business (CIBER) on numerous initiatives in support of internationalization on campus. Housed in the McCombs School of Business, the Center for Global Business provides international business learning opportunities throughout the University, and serves as a change agent for internationalization of business education across the United States.
Division of Diversity and Community Engagement
Study Abroad actively partners with DDCE to build innovative faculty led programs that create access to international activities for underrepresented students at UT Austin. We have also worked with DDCE to host special sessions, presentations and workshops on many topics including, special sessions on funding to address the financial concerns of the student population.
Housed in the Office of the Vice President for Research, the IC2 Institute focuses on technological innovation and its impact on regional economic development through collaboration among university, government and private sector players. Since its founding in 1977, IC2 has researched entrepreneurial wealth creation and been instrumental in Austin's growth as an innovation and technology center.
Office of Financial Aid
The UT Austin Office of Financial Aid is a key and critical partner on campus for all types of international activities. We have worked very closely with the leadership of OFA since the early 1990’s when formal study abroad programs were created. Many, many students would not have been able to go abroad without the federal, state and local financial resources. OFA, in the mist of a massive student case load, has always recognized the importance of international education and has allocated staffing resources to help Program Coordinators and students alike in reaching their goals. Processing budgets, preparing financial letters for consulates and visa requirements are just a few of the tasks that might seem minimal to most but are a huge component of our initiatives to create access.
University Leadership Network
The University Leadership Network (ULN), part of Student Success Initiatives, is a program designed to help students develop leadership skills while achieving academic success consistent with graduating in four years. The International Office partners ULN and hosts interns through the ULN Internship Program to help students gain skills to enhance their professional development.
Our study abroad team partners with UGS to provide study abroad advising access to students inside the UGS center in Jester dormitory. This collaboration has increased access to advising for students and provided an opportunity for Academic Advisors to engage with Study Abroad Program Coordinators on a weekly basis.
UT Global Initiative for Education and Leadership
The UT Global Initiative for Education and Leadership (UTGI) is a program in the College of Liberal Arts with a mission to use the power of education for the advancement of the global community by opening avenues of dialogue, building sustainable leadership and fostering environments of learning.
