Emily Spurgeon

Emily Spurgeon grew up in Massachusetts, and holds a B.A. in anthropology and African diaspora studies from Tulane University, and an M.A. in TESOL from Hunter College. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked in university administration at Northwestern University, and in corporate and educational fundraising at a New York City public television station. Emily loves to travel and learn new languages, and she has studied French, Spanish, Yoruba, and Brazilian Portuguese. She has taught English to international students at New York University, Hunter College, and the Texas Intensive English Program, as well as to adult immigrants through several non-profit organizations in Chicago and New York.
