Work On Campus

On-campus employment takes place on the school’s premises, and the paycheck is issued by The University of Texas at Austin.

Get credit for work

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)
is temporary employment authorization directly related to a student’s major field
of study.

Work In Your Field

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is temporary employment authorization issued by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Employment must relate directly to a student’s major field of study.

Need a Helping Hand?

Severe Economic Hardship is a temporary employment authorization issued by US Citizenship and Immigration Services due to unforeseen financial hardship.

J-1 Student Employment

Most J-1 exchange visitor students are eligible to apply for up to a maximum of 18 months of Academic Training
during an enrolled course of study or upon completion of a degree objective or course of study.


 

J-2 Work Authorization

J-2 Dependents are eligible to work full or part-time during their stay in the United States.
