Why should you work for the International Office?

If you love to travel, learn about new cultures, and be surrounded by a multitude of languages, then working at the International Office is the job for you. The International Office is an environment that constantly fosters exploration of the unknown and new experiences. It constantly puts you in contact with international students and scholars, and with other UT students who are about to embark on their own exciting adventures.

As Student Associate Professionals, not only do you get a first-hand experience at interacting with a variety of vastly different individuals from all over the world, you are encouraged to develop both your professional and cultural knowledge through programs such as orientation, cultural lunches, and student trainings. These are opportunities where student workers are able to formally, and sometimes not so formally, gain a greater insight into life outside the US, how to respectfully acknowledge and work with cultural differences, and other programs such as resume writing and life after graduation. Because you are surrounded by a team of professionals, the International Office is the perfect introduction to the professional world, not to mention a great way to take the edge off that travel bug itch. The International Office hires positions in the following areas: front desk reception and advising, accounting, graphic design, web design, tech support, and other administrative positions in the Study Abroad Office, International Student & Scholar Services, ESL Services, Finance & Administration, and Passport & ID Services.

Student Associate Testimonials

Kellie Lunday

"If I could recommend any place for students to work, it would most definitely be the International Office at the University of Texas at Austin. Not only do students gain professional work experience, but they are also given the opportunity to work with a diverse group of individuals. I personally loved sharing my international experiences with enthusiastic students wanting to go abroad and learning about the many different cultures that pass through the office. Working at the International Office, I have gained a better cultural understanding, pursued more international travel, and made great friends along the way!"

"Through both its employees and its clientele, the international office offers a diverse and culturally rich environment that surpasses that of anywhere else on campus. I love working here because I am constantly being faced with new opportunities and challenges which help me grow not only professionally, but also as a person."
