Located in the heart of Santander, the modern and dynamic University of Cantabria’s Centro de Idiomas boasts more than two decades of experience teaching Spanish to students from all over the world. This intensive program aims to improve Engineering students’ knowledge of the Spanish language, their ability to speak correctly and effectively outside the classroom, and to effectively integrate students into the local culture.
Two summer sessions are offered and students can attend either summer session. Each session, one Spanish course and one Engineering is taught by a UT faculty member. Local professors teach all other Spanish language courses.
Students live with carefully selected local families; one student per family unless otherwise requested. Intermediate and advanced students are encouraged to sign a pledge stating that they will speak only in Spanish while at home and at the university. Students eat lunch, the biggest and most important meal of the day, with their host families. Living with host families proves to be students’ favorite part of their experience abroad.
