Maymester Abroad - After Acceptance

Confirm Participation

  1. Pay $500 non-refundable deposit via What I Owe.
  2. Complete the following modules and forms in MySAO:
    • Orientation modules (2)
    • Online financial aid counseling module (financial aid students only)
    • Emergency contact information
    • Emergency medical authorization
    • Overseas insurance
    • Release and indemnification agreement

Deadline: December 10

Get a Passport

  1. Make sure you have a valid passport. (U.S. citizens may apply for a passport through the U.S. Department of State).
  2. Complete the following forms into MySAO (see below for more details):
    • Passport
    • Health clearance form
    • Flight information

Deadline: March 1

Obtain Health Clearance

  1. Make an appointment with a healthcare provider.
  2. Print out and take a health clearance form to your appointment.
  3. The examining healthcare provider will send the form directly to Study Abroad
  4. Check via MySAO that your health clearance form was received by Study Abroad

Deadline: March 1

Purchase Airfare

  1. Your program coordinator will provide you with instructions on purchasing airfare for your program.
    • Only after you have received these instructions should you purchase airfare.
  2. Once you have purchased airfare, enter the flight details into MySAO.

Deadline: March 1

Maintain Eligibility to Participate

  1. Attend mandatory pre-departure orientations (in addition to the Kickoff).
    • Your program coordinator will provide you with dates, times and locations.
  2. Maintain good academic standing.
    • 2.0 minimum GPA for undergraduate students; 3.0 minimum GPA for graduate students
  3. Meet any applicable course pre-requisites


Please note: students must comply with the above listed requirements and meet listed deadlines to be eligible to participate in the program. Ineligible students will be withdrawn from the program.
