The University of Texas at Austin is partnering with The Coca-Cola Foundation to send first-generation UT students to study abroad in China. The $2,000 scholarship is automatically awarded to First Abroad scholarship recipients and Hutchison International Scholars who choose to study abroad on any of the 13 UT-approved programs in mainland China by summer 2015. The grant supports President Barack Obama’s “100,000 Strong Initiative,” a public-private partnership that aspires to send 100,000 American students to study in China over the next four years. Additional Scholarships for Study Abroad in ChinaThe Asian Studies Scholarship – deadline November 1st The School of International Training (SIT), a UT affiliate program provider, is offering six $10,000 scholarships for students studying spring semester 2012 in China, Mongolia, and Vietnam. UT currently offers four programs through SIT in these locations. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to students with financial need that demonstrate a compelling interest in studying in Asia. Peter Wollitzer Scholarships for Study in Asia – deadline November 1st (spring) and April 1st (summer, fall, year-long) The Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE), a UT affiliate program provider, is offering scholarships to study in Asia in 2012. One award is made each semester in the amount of $2,000 and two awards of $500 each are made for summer programs. Students from only 14 schools in the United States can apply for this scholarship, including UT Austin students. UT currently offers 11 study abroad programs that qualify.
